Heroes of Might and Magic

Might & Magic Heroes (formerly known as Heroes of Might and Magic) is a classic video game series created by Jon Van Caneghem and developed by New World Computing. As part of the broader Might and Magic franchise, the series has changed hands several times: after NWC was acquired by 3DO, it later passed to Ubisoft when 3DO went out of business.

The games are known for their turn-based, fantasy-themed battles, where players control armies of mythical creatures. The series kicked off in 1995 with the original title, and the seventh installment, Might & Magic Heroes VII, was released on September 29, 2015.

After New World Computing produced Heroes of Might and Magic IV, the rights to the franchise were acquired by Ubisoft. The first game following this change was developed by Nival Interactive, titled Heroes of Might and Magic V. Its sequel, Might & Magic Heroes VI, was developed by Black Hole Entertainment, while Limbic Entertainment worked on subsequent patches and DLC, including Might & Magic Heroes VII. Additionally, Virtuos developed the standalone expansion, Shades of Darkness, for Heroes VI.
