Huggy Wuggy was designed by Playtime CO. as a toy for children, quickly becoming the company’s most popular product. However, before the events of the game, he was modified, gaining a transferred yet corrupted human conscience that transformed him into a monster. 

In his first appearance, Huggy Wuggy pretends to be a statue to deceive the protagonist. Once the player retrieves a key and restores power in a certain room, he vanishes from his pedestal and starts stalking the player from vents and high places. As the player navigates the dark areas, Huggy Wuggy emerges from the shadows to chase them through the conveyor belt tunnels. 

If the player fails to reach the catwalk at the end, Huggy Wuggy captures and kills them. However, if they successfully reach the catwalk, they can block him with a box, causing both to fall. If the player survives, Huggy Wuggy plummets into the void, colliding with pipes, leaving it unclear whether he survives or meets his end.
